When The Gods Dream

The Beginning

There was a time before time when absolutely nothing existed.
There was no light.  There was no dark.  Matter had no place to park.  Light had nowhere to shine; nothing to shine upon.  There was no here, no there, no then, and no now.  And it was the result of this complete nothingness, this Total Absence, that something wonderful occurred.
From nowhere and out of nothing an overwhelming desire sprang into existence.  Desire had no need for space, for time, light, and dark; but it desired them.  And from this desire the birth of the universe occured.  It was as if the complete lack of something, somewhere, and sometime forced by way of paradox the creation of something.  The desire to be, as is the nature of Desire, wanted a where and a when to express itself.  It was at this moment that the simultanious creation of Time happened.  It had to be.  Without time, everything is simultanious, so Desire and Time started it all rolling along; moving forward, as it were.
          This was the Beginning.
          Where did it come from?
          Nowhere.
          When did it happen?
          At the beginning of Time.
What did it look like?  Why like an unwitnessed tree falling in the forest.  Exactly.
There you have it.  Time and Desire were all that existed, and from their existence a medoly of other aspects sounded their way into being.
Light was the first to show up.  From its very first flash, Light conspired with Time to create Volume.
Throughout the endless body of Volume, Firmament precipitated from Light as magically as raindrops from a cloud; as magically as the birth of the gods.

Early on, the universe was a very lonely place.
It was this loneliness that provoked the gods to play.  Their play caused galaxies to bloom like lilies upon a blackwater pond; stars to fill the void like fireflies on a warm summer's night; and an endless stream of possibilities to flow.
The gods are great, but sometimes the gods will sleep.  It was during one of these somnolent moments that Firmament, looking deep within the minds of these sleeping gods, found that they had withheld a Cosmic Secret.  They had withheld the secret of Germination.
Firmament chewed on this for a long, long time.  Why would the gods do such a thing?  The first two feelings to exist were Desire and Loneliness.  Germination seem like the perfect solution.
The secret of Germination stewed within Firmament.  It boiled and bubbled like a mash bring life to Firmament's loneliest aspects.  Before long, life had been woven throughout the universe.
Firmament couldn't understand what had happened.  Merely considering the nature of Germination had caused such a mess.  How to clean it up before the gods wake.  What to do first.  Life was everywhere, and some of it had begun to think.  Firmament began the endless search for Understanding.  Germination grabbed onto Firmament's quest, and from that grasp sentient life began to pop-up everywhere.  Firmament paused to watch, as Sentience, the Golden Child of the Universe, stepped onto the stage of existence.
         A lonely place no more.

Thank you
