This unique piece was cast in both Sterling Silver & *Electrum using the **married metal technique.  The frawn and stem are Sterling Silver.  The Snail is Electrum.  It  weighs 13.5grams (1.9grams Electrum),  and measures 4 3/8" (112mm) wide, by 2 1/8" (55mm) tall.

* Electrum varies in its proportions, but is generally a 40/60 to 60/40 mixture of gold and silver.

** Married metal techneque is the process whereby a cast sculpture is placed on the model of a second sculpture.  The second sculpture is then cast using a different metal.  During the second casting the metal of the first sculpture, and the metal of the second sculpture are fused (married) together to make a single 'married metal' cast sculpture.
